Dr. Eva Hester, recently retired Professor in the Department of Audiology, Speech Language Pathology & Deaf Studies, passed away unexpectedly after a heart attack on July 29th. Eva was a long term faculty member at Towson University, beginning in 1984 as an adjunct and retiring in January of 2014 as a Full Professor. Among her many contributions, Eva was a champion of undergraduate student research and mentored many students through projects that were co-presented at national conferences. For two years in in the early 2000’s she served as special assistant to the Dean, providing leadership for key projects in the College of Health Professions. Her research and clinical interests were wide-ranging, but in her later years she specialized in health literacy across diverse populations and had several noted publications in that area. After retiring Eva moved back to her birth place, Longview Texas, in order to be close to her sisters, two of her three children, and many grandchildren. Services were held in Longview on August 5th at Growing Valley Baptist Church and she was buried in Grace Hill Cemetery.
