A new university-wide partnership administered by OTS for a computer reconditioning program, CompuCycle, takes computers that have reached the end of their classroom/lab lifecycle and reconditions, upgrades and redistributes them on campus. Each computer gets more memory, a super-fast, solid-state hard drive, and a new keyboard and mouse, so they run great.
Who is eligible
If you have a need for an updated computer but don’t have departmental, divisional or student technology fee funding to purchase a new one, and if your computer isn’t eligible for the trade-up program, go to TU’s CompuCycle website, http://www.towson.edu/CompuCycle, for more information and to request a computer.
What others have to say
“The CompuCycle program has made the difference between being able to run smoothly versus having big trouble operating in our new facility—where we do not have the resources for so many new computers!” Greg Reising, Director of the Counseling Center
“The ‘new to us’ computer works very well in AD120! It has allowed our non-HR instructors to come into the training room and use the computer in the room instead of them lugging their own to hook up and use because our computer was not updated with the newest software or very fast. Our repurposed computer has improved our ability to deliver training that can incorporate multi-media use and not freeze up.” Mike Noll, Manager of Training and Development
“The repurposed computer is working very well. In my research lab, computers are needed to run specific software and hardware. Having repurposed computers is good because it won’t be subject to daily wear and tear, it saves money, and runs the equipment.” Christopher Oufiero, Assistant Professor for the Department of Biological Sciences
