Richard E. Vatz, Instructional Leadership and Professional Development Department, published an article in USA Today Magazine’s July, 2013 issue with Professor Jeffrey Schaler of American University titled “Therapeutic Theory: Psychiatry’s Irresponsible Deception,” an expanded piece on the new DSM-5. On July 22, Dr. Vatz also commented on Fox regional television on President Obama’s reaction to the Trayvon Martin killing and trial of George Zimmerman. Dr. Vatz also spoke on Jimmy Mathis’s WBAL talk show on July 27 to discuss the Zimmerman case and the paroling of killers psychiatrically adjudicated as “rehabilitated” in Maryland by Patuxent Institute at Jessup in the 1970s -1990s and to discuss his “Local Opinions” piece in The Washington Post July 20, 2013 on the same topic.
