OTS will perform tests on the backup systems for the new VoIP phones between 6 a.m. and noon on Sunday, September 23. These tests will ensure that the systems that keep the phones working in the event of failure are functioning properly. During these tests, you may periodically be unable to place or receive calls for short periods of time.
If there is an emergency during this time period, please call x4-4444 for TUPD or 911 for fire or ambulance as usual. In the unlikely event that your call does not go through, you should immediately retry your call as phone disruptions should be very short. Additionally, you can dial 911 from your cellular phone. Cellular service will not be disrupted by this testing. While highly unlikely, if the need would arise, the TUPD has a conventional telephone line that is not affected by the testing. That number is 410-830-2134.
When maintenance is complete, a post will be made to the OTS alerts website {http://alerts.towson.edu} and an all campus email will be sent by TUPD.
As a reminder, the Office of Technology Services? maintenance window is every Sunday from 6 a.m. to noon. This maintenance window will begin one hour early in order to accommodate campus events beginning early Sunday morning. Faculty and users are advised to keep this maintenance window in mind when planning events, assignments and deadlines.
If you have any questions about the outage, please contact the OTS Help Center at x4-5151.
