You may have recently noticed an increase in the number of spam messages arriving in your email account. OTS is aware of this increase. The technologies used to send SPAM are constantly evolving and at times these technologies find ways to get through the campus SPAM filtering systems.
Below are some startling statistics. OTS blocks over 15 million SPAM messages a month! More than 80% of the mail that comes to our campus is identified as SPAM and never makes it to your inbox.

What OTS is Doing?
OTS is constantly monitoring and tuning the campus SPAM filtering systems and looking for ways to improve them. In addition, OTS is currently exploring alternative solutions to help combat SPAM. There are simply no silver bullets to completely eliminate SPAM.
What Can You Do?
All e-mail coming into the university now has an X-Spam Score value added to it by Spam Assassin, an anti-spam program that runs on the TU e-mail hubs.
One can set up Outlook or another e-mail client to filter messages likely to be spam based on the X-Spam Score. To learn more about this useful tool view OTS Training’s Self Help Document on this topic at:
