This announcement serves as a reminder that Computing and Network Services will begin the final testing phase for the campus firewall by installing it for a trial run Wednesday, Jan. 14, 10 a.m.-noon. During the trial run CANS technicians will ensure the firewall works properly before permanently installing it later this month.
A firewall is a combination of network hardware and software that protects internal computers from outside intrusion. It will greatly increase and improve the security of the campus network by protecting it from outside intrusion, such as viruses, worms and other unauthorized users.
