What Matters Speaker Series: Groundwater That Looks Like Ocean Water–Stormwater Management Basins and Road Salt Loading into Suburban Watersheds

Date/Time:  Friday, March 6, 3:00-4:00pm

Place:  College of Liberal Arts, Room 3310

The Department of Geography and Environmental Planning invite you to its next talk in the What Matters Speaker Series on “Groundwater That Looks Like Ocean Water–Stormwater Management Basins and Road Salt Loading into Suburban Watersheds.”  Over 20 million tons of salt are thrown on the nation’s roadways annually to melt the snow and ice that make driving hazardous.  Unfortunately, these salts are a major threat to the quality of our groundwater and streams.  Dr. Joel Moore of the Department of Physics, Astronomy, and Geosciences will discuss the effect of salts on urban watersheds and how the problem might be managed.
