For the past three holiday seasons, the Towson University Police Department has worked with St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore to collect new or gently used blankets or sheets for the homeless. St. Vincent de Paul is a leading provider of community services to people suffering from the effects of hunger, homelessness and poverty in Baltimore.
St. Vincent de Paul will accept any size gently used blanket or sheet for their Beans and Bread shelter. However, they especially need new twin size blankets or sheets for Sarah’s Hope, their 24-hour emergency shelter and provider of other support services for homeless women and children.
Let’s give back. Can you imagine what a blanket or sheet could do for people or families who are literally out in the cold?
You can donate blankets at collection boxes on the second floor of the University Union, in front of the Information Desk. Look for boxes marked “TUPD BLANKET DRIVE”. We collect the blankets every day until December 18, 2013. For more information, please contact Corporal Kia Williams at kdwilliams@towson.edu
The TUPD wishes safe and happy holidays to all!
