The Maryland State Flag flown at Half-Staff

Governor Martin O’Malley has ordered the Maryland State Flag immediately be flown at half-staff in honor of firefighter Gene Kirchner, a 7-year veteran of the Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company, who died today as a result of injuries suffered in the line of duty. The flag shall continue to be flown at half-staff until sunset the day of interment. When the date of his funeral is determined, an updated notification will be sent.
