Celebrate Black History Month 2013

 

Come join us as we celebrate Black History Month 2013.  The theme for this year is “Defining our Image, Telling Our Stories.”  Throughout the month, we will explore the ways the rich heritage of African Americans has been highlighted and celebrated through film, music, and multimedia and how those images have defined our experience.  All are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

 

Black History Month Movie: Red Tails

Towson University honors Dr. King and his legacy with special guest speaker Ben Jealous, current President and CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

#BeTheDream is a multimedia experience that will explore the ways that young people can use social media to share their dreams for a better world just as Dr. King did.  Sponsored by the Black Student Union and the Center for Student Diversity.

Afro-Latinos: The Untaught Story

Take a journey to meet Afro- Latinos throughout Spanish and Portuguese speaking nations of Central and South America and the Caribbean.  It is the story of a shared history not found in textbooks.  Come join in this dialogue about these communities who have been invisible until now.  Sponsored by the African Diaspora Club and the Center for Student Diversity.
