Acting Dean of College of Graduate Studies and Research Announced

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Chao Lu as Acting Dean of College of Graduate Studies and Research. Dr. Lu has served as chairperson of Towson?s Department of Computer & Information Sciences since 1999. The Department of Computer & Information Sciences is one of the largest departments at Towson, offering bachelors, masters and doctoral programs. Under his leadership, the Department has established an increasing number of partnerships with government agencies, industry and other University divisions.

Dr. Lu has received numerous industry grants to fund his research over the past 20 years, including more than 20 grant/contract awards at Towson. He did his sabbatical research at the US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in 1996. His achievements earned him the Federal ?Excellence in Technology Transfer Award” and the “Alan Berman Research Publications Award” in 2001. He has co-authored two books and more than 60 refereed journal and international conference papers.

Dr. Lu received a BS in Electronics from Shandong University and a MS and Ph.D. from City University of New York. He was assistant professor at CCNY from 1988 to 1990, before joining faculty at Towson University in 1990.
