On Tuesday, March 15, 2011 the Cultural Studies Program at Towson University will be hosting Al Burian, author of the zines, Burn Collector and Natural Disasters in Linthicum 200 from 5:00 ? 6:15pm. Mr. Burian will be reading from his new issue of Burn Collector and discussing self-publishing at Towson University.
Among his other accomplishments, Mr. Burian has played in various punk bands, including Milemarker and Challenger. According to the Atomic Books website: ?In many ways Al Burian is part of the rising group of ‘underground’ authors (Aaron Cometbus, Cindy of Doris, Sarah of the Urban Hermit etc.) who are definitely leaving their mark on modern literature. Definitely above average writing focusing on personal issues, experiences, insights and more. The [Burn Collector] book went through six printings, along the way garnering acclaim from readers, inspiring a film (Matt McCormick?s 2009, ?Some Days are Better than Others?) and a major label album (Thrice?s 2003, ?The Artist in the Ambulance?). More importantly, the book inspired readers to write and self-publish: to do it themselves, in the true punk spirit.?
This event is free and open to the public.
