TUSCFR (Towson University Student Council on Family Relations) is sponsoring a book drive to benefit Norwood Elementary school. If you, or anyone you know, has gently used children books that they would like to get rid of we would really appreciation the donation. Please ask your co-workers, family, and friends if they would like to participate. Collection boxes are located in Linthicum 319. The last day we are collecting books is Friday, December 11th. This is NEXT Friday. Please help pass on the gift of reading.
TUSCFR is a student organization that focuses on issues relevant to families. The purpose of the organization is to provide students with opportunities to learn from others in the field, network with students with similar interests, gain experience in a variety of community and family settings, and make a difference. While we are affiliated with the Department of Family Studies and Community Development, it is not necessary to be a FMST major/minor to join.
What TUSCFR Does
The organization holds regular meetings, fund raising events, community outreach, and related fieldwork. Some recent activities in which students have participated include preparing and serving lunch at Johns Hopkins Children’s House, assisting in a Halloween party at St. Vincent’s School, organizing a bake sale to raise funds to adopt a family for the holidays from the Women’s Housing Coalition, and hosting professional speakers from American Humanics and the Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Center (SARC).
