Join the University Store in celebrating
Students Helping Honduras on
National Students Day, October 4, 2012!!!
Students Helping Honduras (SHH) was founded by a student in Virginia in 2007 when he saw the conditions that the people of Honduras were living in. He and his friends raised $100,000 through tireless dedication and hard work by various fundraisers like bake sales and walk-a-thons to change the circumstances for the ever so grateful people of El Progreso, Honduras.
Since then, the village that SHH created, Villa Soleada, has 44 homes, an education center with ninecomputers, a bilingual school, two children’s homes, three soccer fields, two water towers, a compost system and electricity. The education center, children’s home and bilingual school was all made possible because of students at Towson University.
In partnership with SHH?s advisor, Dr. Santiago Solis, the Center For Student Diversity, and students, the University Store has continued to support the efforts of the SHH with donations and table space for them to raise money. The University Store is very proud of the work SHH does and is excited for this opportunity for them. Please join us in congratulating SHH on their accomplishments in Honduras thus far!
