Dyan Brasington to Direct TU Economic and Workforce Development

TOWSON, Md. — One of the Mid-Atlantic region?s premier economic development professionals is joining Towson University?s staff.

Dyan Brasington, former president of the Rockville-based Technology Council of Maryland, has been appointed Director of Economic and Workforce Development at Towson University. She will report to Dr. James P.Clements, Vice President for Economic and Community Outreach.

The Severna Park resident has more than 25 years of experience in technology, economic development and association management. In her 10 years with the Technology Council of Maryland, she was responsible for the management, direction, strategic development and growth of the association, which comprises more than 700 corporate member organizations.

Under her direction, the council tripled its membership and budget, expanded its capacities and developed numerous revenue-producing programs to compete in new, aggressive markets.

Before joining the Maryland Technology Council, she reported to the governor of West Virginia as Executive Director for the state?s Council for Community and Economic Development. She has also served as Director of Economic Development in Montgomery and Howard counties, as well as in Prince William County, Va.

In her new position she will manage and/or develop the university?s economic consulting group, international business incubator, metropolitan leadership institute, and the small business development center as well as creating new workforce development programs.
