Campus Data Network Upgrade Project

The campus network upgrade project will begin on Thursday, July 15 and be completed by Sunday, August 15, 2004. Migration will occur on a building-by-building basis. Please refer to the Campus Migration Schedule: {http://wwwnew.towson.edu/adminfinance/ots/networkcom/unpluggeddowntimes.asp}.

This upgrade will provide the university with increased network reliability, performance, manageability and security. The project will also include the installation of a new campus-wide wireless network.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING MIGRATION:

  • On the day prior to the cutover, there will be signs posted at the entrances and exits of each building notifying everyone that the cutover process will occur the following day. On the day of the cutover, there will be signs posted at all building entrances. An announcement will be posted on the Daily Digest that will provide relevant information to the campus.
  • Building occupants will not have access to campus email nor the Internet. Please be aware that data communications sent to occupants of affected buildings may not be received until the following day.
  • You will see Northrop Grumman Information Technology (NGIT) personnel and TU OTS employees in your building. OTS staff will be available to answer questions and address any issues during the migration.

The campus community’s patience during this project is appreciated. Disruptions will be kept to a minimum. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, you may contact OTS? Towson Unplugged Team at unplugged@towson.edu
