Parking Notice – Summer Construction Parking Impacts

Numerous renovation and construction projects are scheduled for this summer, impacting the access to and use of parking facilities. Below is a summary of the currently scheduled parking impacts.

While every effort will be made to maintain schedules and keep the community updated, please understand schedules are subject to change. Follow the direction of posted staff and signs at all times.

University Avenue Road Closure

On or near June 9, University Avenue will be closed just past the main entrance of the Towsontown Garage across from Burdick Hall to the rear entrance across from Residence Tower so that the road can be realigned. As construction progresses, the garage will no longer be accessible from the rear entrance located near Residence Towers. At that time, all vehicles must enter through the garage?s main entrance off of Towsontown Boulevard.

During this time, there will be no through road for large vehicles entering University Avenue from Burke Avenue. Trucks delivering to the University Union loading dock will continue to have access from the west entrance of University Avenue.

Lot 5 Closure ? Linthicum Hall

The majority of lot 5 will be permanently closed Friday, June 6 at 5 p.m.. A small portion of the lot will remain available for the next year for handicapped parking only. This area will be re-opened Monday, June 9 and be accessible from Linthicum Road next to Dowell Health Center. All vehicles parked in this area must display a valid TU permit in addition to a valid state-issued handicapped permit or license plate. Faculty and staff members who normally park in this lot will need to relocate to the faculty/staff areas of the Towsontown or Union Garages, or lot 9 behind Burdick.

Garage Renovations & Closures

From June 10 to August 15, both the Union and Towsontown garages will be undergoing renovations. In order to maintain parking in the garages, renovations will be staged throughout the facilities. As such, different levels and entrances will have to be closed during the project. Please pay close attention to posted signs indicating closures. Some closures may require community members to use different roads to access open entrances.
