The university has experienced e-mail delivery issues over the last few weeks. A majority of the issues are due to the large increase in spam e-mail messages that are coming into the campus. The total number of incoming messages has doubled since January. This means the mail hubs are working overtime to keep up with the large amount of e-mail that needs to be processed.
As a result, you may see a delay with e-mail delivery to and from off-campus. The Office of Technology Services is working on ways to process the increased number of incoming messages with a minimal delivery delay. OTS appreciates your patience as this problem gets resolved.
Interesting e-mail facts:
– Over 80% of all incoming messages are blocked because they are flagged as spam or Virus
– The university is currently receiving over 1 million e-mail messages per day
