Music for the Stage presents two of the greatest English one act operas ever composed, Purcell?s monumental Baroque masterpiece Dido and Aeneas, a beautiful yet tragic love story based on Virgil?s Aeneid and Riders to the Sea, a contemporary setting of John Millington Synge?s poignant and tragic play of the same name. Both operas are rich with powerful music and poetic imagery and dramatic characters who must sacrifice their deepest selves, even to death, because of an uncertain world filled with powers too great for any one person to overcome alone. Both operas are presented fully staged with chamber orchestra. Dido and Aeneas will be visually enhanced by dance and special effects.

Tickets: $15 general admission; $12 seniors; $6 students
