Student Proposals to Present at Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Conference

Towson University, along with Baltimore Collegetown Network and Maryland Campus Compact, is sponsoring the third annual Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Conference. We are looking for faculty and students to present on aspects of service-learning and civic engagement. This year?s ?Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Conference: Planting Seeds of Service and Cultivating Civic Engagement? will be held Saturday, April 10 from 9:00 AM ? 4:00 PM in the University Union.

To submit a presentation proposal for the conference, complete the Request for Proposals by Friday, February 5, 2010, at 5 PM. Selection notification will be sent by Friday, February 19, 2010. Please keep in mind workshop length is a maximum of 1 hour and 15 minutes; please be conscious of time needed for questions and comments. Proposals must be submitted online. Proposals should be developed to meet one or more of the following outcomes:

? Explore successful service-learning and civic engagement strategies, benefitting both students and community stakeholders
? Strengthen the capacity of Maryland campuses to create community partnerships
? Collaborate, network and share ideas with students, faculty and staff throughout Maryland
? Celebrate an enthusiasm and appreciation for service-learning and civic engagement
? Emphasize the importance of integrating service-learning initiatives and curriculum
