On Research Involving Human Subjects

Towson?s Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Subjects in Research will hold a workshop on conducting responsible research involving the use of human subjects on Friday, November 14, 2003 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the 7800 building, York Road, conference room 218A. The following topics will be addressed:
– History and rationale of human subject regulations
– Types of research that must be reviewed and categories of exemptions and approval
– Application and approval: working with the IRB (bring your applications and questions!)
Faculty members who teach classes in which students may conduct research projects, who supervise students conducting human subjects research in pursuit of a master?s or doctoral dissertation, and students are strongly encouraged to attend.
