Spring Jewish Film Festival presents The Falashas, Operation Moses, Operation Solomon this Sunday

The Jewish Studies Program’s spring film festival presents The Falashas, Operation Moses, Operation Solomon on Sunday, April 10th, 7:30-9:30 p.m. in Cheasapeake I.

An evening of rare films about Ethiopian Jews, the Falashas (named “Outsiders, Strangers” by others), will feature their Biblical life, as they engage in Jewish circumcision, wedding ceremonies, prayer services and proclaim themselves Jews in words and deeds. Their yearning to flee continuous persecution and to be free in thei Holy Land is realized in dangerous transports to Israel.

Co-sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts, Hillel, the African American Cultural Center, Tigers for Israel, African-African American Studies and the Multicultural Institute. Admission is free and open to all. Contact Hillel Director Ken Krivitzky at 4-4671 or Dr. Evelyn Avery at 4-2865 for more information.
