To all Faculty, Staff and Students:
Since last March when I personally assumed the responsibilities of chief information officer, I have worked actively and directly to improve TU?s technology strategy. One area that needs immediate improvement is the information sharing that exists between the university?s technology support groups and the campus community. At this point, it is inadequate, and we are currently taking steps to address this issue.
Without effective communication, successful relationships cannot exist, and living in the technology-driven world we do today, it is extremely important that TU?s students, faculty and staff improve their understanding of the university?s technology infrastructure and its implications.
Our solution for this problem is a new position on campus. Ms. Amie Voith was recently hired as the communications specialist for Computing and Network Services and the Center for Instructional Advancement and Technology. Amie has enthusiastically accepted this position and will work energetically to fulfill the goals I have outlined. As communications specialist, she will enhance the quantity and quality of communications from the university?s technology support groups to the campus community.
Amie recently graduated from the University of Delaware with a bachelor of art?s degree in English and journalism and a minor in history. Her expertise is writing and editing, and as such, she has had experience working with a variety of written materials, including newspapers, newsletters, online publications, brochures, technical publications and press releases. She comes to TU from the University of Delaware?s Office of Public Relations, where she served as a reporter and public relations officer.
Amie?s work will surely be an asset to the university in the coming months as we make several changes to our technology infrastructure. If you have any specific ideas or suggestions for improving the university?s communication strategies, please contact me at (410) 704-2151 or dharnage@towson.edu.
