Additional E-mail Scam Hits Campus

The Office of Technology Services is aware of incoming e-mails claiming to be from Yahoo! Photos asking you to log in to view photos of a recent event, such as a vacation or a birthday party. If you receive an e-mail asking you to provide your log-in information, which will disclose your personal account information, delete the e-mail immediately to avoid the risk of identity theft.

Earlier this week OTS also reported an e-mail scam, which claimed to be from Liberia and requested help for obtaining an inheritance. Please disregard and delete this e-mail as well.

The attempted e-mail scams are using a process called phishing, in which a sender impersonates a legitimate source to obtain personal information such as credit card or social security numbers.

Please contact OTS at x4-5151 if you have further questions.
