Downtime Information for this Week’s CANS Service Window

During fall semester 2003, Computing and Network Services (CANS) was approved for a weekly service window, Sundays 6 a.m. to noon. CANS will continue to utilize the window this semester on an as-needed basis to perform routine maintenance, testing, upgrades and other check-ups.

The following downtimes will occur this Sunday, Feb. 8:

DIAL-UP SERVICE UNAVAILABLE, 6 A.M.-NOON

The university?s remote access server will be unavailable, 6 a.m.-noon Sunday. As a result, off-campus users will not have access to dial-up service.

During the maintenance, CANS will move the dial-up lines. The move will help to ensure that the remote access server will remain available in the event of future power outages.

NETWORK SERVICES UNAVAILABLE, 6-8 A.M.

All campus network services (e-mail, calendaring, Web pages, etc.) will be unavailable 6-8 a.m. Sunday for preventative maintenance. CANS will replace a switch that connects the services to the network in order to improve reliability.
