CANS will complete the final phase of testing for the implementation of a campus firewall Wednesday, Jan. 14, 10 a.m.-noon, and Wednesday, Jan. 21, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
During the scheduled times CANS will implement the firewall on a trial basis to ensure it works properly before permanently installing it later this month.
A firewall is a combination of network hardware and software that protects internal computers from outside intrusion. It will greatly increase and improve the security of the campus network by protecting it from outside intrusion, such as viruses, worms and other unauthorized users.
