New D.C. Law: Drivers Must Use Hands-free Devices with Cell Phones

The following message is a notification from the Office of Technology Services? Networking and Communications group:

Effective July 1, 2004, anyone using a cellular phone without a hands-free device while driving in the District of Columbia will be fined $100 and one point. The new law applies to all drivers in the city, regardless of whether or not they reside there.

The D.C. Council passed the legislation on January 6, 2004.
