The Passing of Dr. Shiva Azadegan

We are deeply saddened to share that our most beloved friend and colleague, Dr. Shiva Azadegan passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 after an extended battle with cancer.

Shiva began her career in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Towson University in 1992 and made enormous contributions to the department over the years.  Students and colleagues alike remember her commitment, patience, mentorship, and completely genuine selflessness.  Among her many impacts, she served for a time as Acting Department Chair and was instrumental in establishing the Cybersecurity programs at TU, which were the first in the state and among the first in the nation.  She touched the lives of countless individuals as a dedicated and beloved teacher, coworker, and friend.  Our loss at her passing is incalculable and she will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege to know her.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday February 11th, at 11am, at the Funeral home of Sol Levinson & Bros, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208.  Following the interment, a memorial reception will be held at 3pm at the Grey Rock Mansion, 400 Grey Rock Rd, Pikesville, MD 21208.

In lieu of flowers her family asks that donations be sent to the Baha’i Institute for Higher Education, in memory of Shiva Azadegan Akhavan, 1233 Central St., Evanston, IL 60201.
