Several ongoing roadwork projects will affect vehicular travel along Towsontown Boulevard, Osler Drive and Cross Campus Drive this academic year.
BGE Roadwork
BGE is continuing to install underground cables along Towsontown Boulevard and Osler Drive to improve electrical service in the area. The work on Towsontown Boulevard will continue beginning August 28th, and the work on Osler Drive will continue on August 30th. The projects will be ongoing throughout the fall.
Beginning in November, BGE will work along a limited section of Cross Campus Drive across from Tower A as they remove an existing electrical substation. Work on this project is expected to conclude by January 2018.
County Roadwork
The county project to widen Towsontown Boulevard is nearing completion. Additional turn lanes from Towsontown onto Osler Drive should be available soon.
In the coming weeks, the county will begin installing a new sewer pipe underneath Towsontown Boulevard. Construction will stretch from Bosley Avenue west beyond Osler Drive. The center lanes of Towsontown will be excavated to make way for the installation. There will be intermittent lane closures throughout the project, which is expected to last through spring 2018.
Traffic & Pedestrian Recommendations
We recommend avoiding Towsontown Boulevard between Emerson Drive and University Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the duration of the projects. Drivers and shuttle users should allow extra travel time and consider using alternate access routes such as Stevenson Lane, York Road or Burke Avenue. Pedestrians should consider using interior campus walkways instead of the sidewalks adjacent to Towsontown Boulevard.
Information about this roadwork was previously posted in December 2016, February 2017, early, mid and late May 2017, early and late June 2017, and August 2017.
