Campus Recreation Prepares for Expansion

Campus Recreation is excited to prepare for the expansion of its facilities within Burdick Hall. Construction is set to begin in early August. Several professional staff members have been relocated out of Burdick Hall and into the Construction Trailer on University Avenue (between Towsontown Garage and the Health & Counseling Center).  The Campus Recreation Main Office, now located in Burdick Hall 148, will be staffed to answer any questions about programs and services during regular business hours.

Campus Recreation programs and services will continue to operate in Burdick Hall during construction, with some changes due to renovations occurring in the fitness center and climbing wall areas, including:

  • The Fitness Center will be relocated to Gym 1. To accommodate the move of cardio and weightlifting equipment to Gym 1, the Fitness Center will close and be inaccessible starting July 20. It will re-open in Gym 1 on August 3. Gym 2 will remain available for open recreation during the relocation and thereafter.
  • To ensure safety and minimize risks , the Climbing Wall will close when construction begins in early August, and remain closed through the duration of the project.

The expansion will feature two multi-purpose athletic courts, an elevated sprint hill, five studios for group exercise classes, an indoor fitness challenge course, and 22,000 square feet of fitness space for strength, cardio and functional training.
