The Towson University Police Department is joining state and local law enforcement agencies and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in support of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. National Crackdown. From December 12- January 1, 2015, TUPD will encourage motorists and pedestrians to serve as an extra set of eyes for reporting drunk drivers.
According to NHTSA, 33,561 people were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes in 2012, and 10,322 of those fatalities occurred in drunk-driving-related crashes. More than one in five crash fatalities that year occurred in a crash that involved a drunk driver with a BAC at or above .15, almost double the legal limit.
TUPD and Local law enforcement will be out in force cracking down on drunk drivers this holiday season.
The message is simple, Keep your holidays happy and safe. Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over!
