The Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity will be facilitating the question of the week on Freedom Square for Thoughtful Thursdays. The men will be asking students the question “What does it mean to be a True Gentleman?” Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity wants to inform Towson University students of the severity of sexual assault and help stop it through awareness.
Sexual assault is a public health and public safety problem with many implications. Being a victim of sexual assault is one of the most violating experiences anyone can endure and can cause immediate, and long-term physical and mental health consequences. Researchers have reported that 5% of women are sexually assaulted in college every year, with, on average, at least 50% of their sexual assaults involving the use of alcohol or drugs by the perpetrator, victim, or both. But not all sexual assaults are reported and on average 60% of victims know their attackers(Source http://www.oneinfourusa.org/statistics.php).
Please stop by and give your voice to the issue of sexual assault on college campuses.
