Shuttle Service – Major Updates for Fall 2014

To better serve and accommodate the growing campus community riding the shuttles, Parking & Transportation Services has implemented changes to the Fall 2014 shuttle routes and schedules. Shuttle schedules have been carefully reviewed and adjusted to assist individuals with getting to and from campus based on ridership demands.  The following changes will begin Wednesday, August 27, 2014:

Modified Schedules:

All schedules have been carefully reviewed and modified in an effort to more efficiently serve the campus community. Please take time to review the new schedules to find the times that will work best with your schedule. Fall 2014 Shuttle Schedules are available on our website and in person at the Parking and Transportation Services Office.

The weekend Gold route will operate from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Two new routes have been added!

  • Tiger In-Town Route– For the first time ever, we are offering a seven day a week, evening in-town route. This is an off-campus route and will require riders to present a valid TU OneCard prior to boarding the bus. The Tiger In-Town route will get the campus community to and from venues and other entertainment within the Towson area. It will also better service the area surrounding the Institute of Well Being located near Dulaney Valley Road and Joppa Road. Fixed route service will be provided from 4:45 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
  • Black Express Route – To help ease the morning on-campus shuttle commute, we will run the Black Express Route Monday through Thursday. It will only service core campus and West Village. This shuttle will not service Towson Center or University Village.

Expanded shuttle schedules will offer additional service to:

  • Kenilworth Route – two buses will run from 7:30 a.m. – 5:10 p.m.
  • Goucher Route – two buses will run from 7 a.m. – 3:50 p.m.
  • Timonium/Cockeysville Route – two buses will run from 6:45 a.m. – 4:10 p.m.

Expanded SafeRide Service to include Tiger In-Town stops:

  • SafeRide has extended service to include pick-ups (no drop offs) from designated Tiger In-Town Route stops Monday – Sunday, from 2:30 a.m. – 6 a.m. Riders can request SafeRide from the Tiger In-Town stops to campus locations by calling 410-704-SAFE. A valid TU OneCard must be presented prior to boarding the bus from In-Town stops.

Discontinued Services:

  • In order to maintain the safe operation of shuttles on the roads, The Burke/Hillen Stop #51 on both the Loch Raven Route and Goucher Route has been discontinued. Those who boarded at Burke/Hillen Stop #51 should now board at DonnyBrooke Stop #23
  • The weekend Tiger route which previously served the core campus and portions of the Kenilworth and Goucher route has been discontinued. The on-campus Gold route will begin operations on Saturdays and Sundays at 4 p.m.

As a reminder, shuttles will not be in operation if there are no scheduled classes on campus. Additionally, shuttles will not operate when the University is closed for a holiday or for inclement weather. Please remember for your safety, a valid TU OneCard ID is required to board all off-campus shuttles.
