WTMD studios presents their first movie night on Wednesday, August 20, featuring a screening of “Call Girl of Cthulhu,” a new movie from critically acclaimed DIY Baltimore filmmaker Chris LaMartina.
It’s the first Baltimore screening of the film, which debuted at this year’s Maryland Film Festival to rave reviews. LaMartina has been featured in the New York Times, Baltimore Sun, and is one of Baltimore’s most promising young filmmakers.
Inspired by the work of H.P. Lovecraft, “Call Girl of Cthulhu” is an homage to ‘80s and ‘90s schlock films like “Basket Case” and “Toxic Avenger.” It’s about a virginal artist who falls in love with an escort, only to release she’s the chosen bride of the alien god Cthulhu. To save her (and the rest of mankind), he must stop an ancient cult from summoning their god.
