Lester K. Spence – Stare in The Darkness: The Limits of Hip-Hop and Black Politics

The Gissendanner Memorial Lecture would like to present Dr. Lester K. Spence author of Stare in The Darkness for our 2014 Speaker.

Dr. Spence is an Associate Professor of Political Science and Africana Studies at Johns Hopkins University.  His specialities include black politics, racial politics, urban politics, public opinion and American political thought.

In 2009 Dr. Spence received the Hopkins Alumni Excellence in Teaching Award and in 2013 his book Stare in The Darkness:  The Limits of Hip-Hop and Black Politics received the National Conference of Black Political Scientists Best Book Award.
