National Victims Rights Week- Balloon Memorial April 10, 2014

April 6-12, 2014 is National Victims Rights Week. The Towson University Police Department, along with other law enforcement agencies and organizations across the country, is supporting victims’ rights and honoring crime victims and those who advocate on their behalf. This year’s theme, 30 years: Restoring the Balance of Justice, honors the achievements made on behalf of crime victims since the passage of the Victims of Crime Act in 1984.

Come join the TUPD and the Office of Civic Engagement for “Thoughtful Thursday” on April 10, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Freedom Square.  Join us for a balloon memorial in which you can write personal messages honoring victims of crime. The balloons will be tied to the light posts in Freedom Square. You can also answer the “Thoughtful Thursday” question of the day relating to victims of crime.

We will also set up displays that contain information on domestic violence, sexual assault, street crime, workplace violence and personal safety.

For more information, please contact Cpl. Kia Williams, TUPD Community Outreach at kdwilliams@towson.edu.
