Alan Britt, Department of English, judges the THE BITTER OLEANDER PRESS Poetry Book Award
Congratulations to Tom Holmes of Hattiesburg, Mississippi for his manuscript, The Cave, which has won The Bitter Oleander Press Library of Poetry Book Award for 2013. Along with the $1000 cash prize, his book will be published by The Bitter Oleander Press in 2014.
Our judge, Alan Britt, confirmed how difficult a choice it was given the quality of manuscripts submitted to the competition this year. In the end, one consistently stood above the rest. We’re not only delighted to be publishing and adding Tom Holmes’ The Cave to our Library of Poetry, but are most proud to be doing so as well.
We cannot thank all of our participants enough for both their patience in awaiting our response, given the unexpected amount of entries, and for all the wonderful examples of writing submitted for our judge’s consideration.
