Do we need to teach students how to be civically engaged? Don’t we already present our students the knowledge they need to become more productive, responsible citizens? Or does fostering citizenship development for 21st century youth require more than traditional classroom tools? What can–or should–we do in a time of limited resources and political polarization? Based on her just published book, Teaching Civic Engagement: From Student to Active Citizen, Dr. Alison Rios Millett McCartney will address these and other pressing questions for today’s collegiate environment. Click here to preview her book.
Format: Dr. McCartney will begin by discussing her book and then open the discussion to the audience. Her presentation will be followed by a reception and book signing.
