Opening Reception: September 14, 2 – 4 p.m.

Welcome remarks by Philippine Ambassador to the U.S., Jose L. Cuisia

At the turn of the past century, up to the sixties and seventies, artists in the Philippines pioneered the modern art movement before their counterparts in other countries of Asia. Organized in cooperation with the Philippine Center in New York, this exhibition celebrates the remarkable advancement in Filipino identity through free and creative expressions of human experiences, embodied in these works of nationally recognized master artists.

The exhibition features 20 works on loan from the Philippine Center Collection, plus additional works from private collectors in Baltimore, Washington, DC and Virginia. Artists represented include Pacita Abad, Lamberto Hechanova, Abdulmari Imao, Romulo Olazo and Manuel Rodriguez.

 Admission is free. Gallery hours: Monday-Friday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Saturday, 1 – 4 p.m.
