STEM-X Volunteers Needed!

The National Federation of the Blind is pleased to announce the newest National Center for Blind Youth in Science program—NFB STEM-X. This inquiry-based science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) program will provide students with learning opportunities in STEM disciplines ranging from engineering and robotics to the science of cooking. The program will be held here at Towson University from July 29 to August 3. It will serve fifty blind high school students from around the country.

Volunteers are needed!

We highly prefer that people sign up to work an entire shift or multiple shifts. The shifts are outlined below.

  • Monday: July 29: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., 4 – 10 p.m.,
  • Tuesday: July 30: 6 – 10 a.m., 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., 3 – 8 p.m., 8 – 10:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: July 31: 6 – 10 a.m., 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., 3 – 8 p.m., 8 – 10:30 p.m.
  • Thursday: August 1: 6 – 10 a.m., 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., 3 – 8 p.m., 8 – 10:30 p.m.
  • Friday: August 2: 6 – 10 a.m., 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., 3 – 10 p.m.
  • Saturday: August 3: 6 – 10 a.m., 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Volunteers should…

  • have a big voice that they aren’t afraid to use
  • be willing to walk/stand for the vast majority of the shift
  • be willing to be outside in the July heat for the vast majority of the shift
