The Office of Civic Engagement is seeking nominees for the 2013 Maryland-DC Campus Compact (MDCCC) Awards. These awards recognize students, faculty, staff and communities across Maryland and DC for their work in service-learning and civic engagement. - The Alan Penczek Service-Learning Faculty Award: Recognizes and honors one faculty member for contributing to the integration of service-learning into the curriculum.
- The Community Partnership Award: Recognizes one outstanding campus-community partnership that produces measurable improvements in people’s lives while enhancing higher education in the process.
- The Institutional Leadership Award: Recognizes and honors one outstanding individual for significant contributions to the institutionalization of community engagement, by inspiring a vision for service on the campus, including involving faculty, students and campus-community partnerships.
- The Service-Learning Scholarship Award: Recognizes and honors a scholar for his/her outstanding research in the field of curricular and co-curricular service-learning.
- The Civic Engagement Award: Recognizes applicants according to their work, participation, and innovative ideas that contribute to the development of civic learning and engagement. Nominees may be a service-learning faculty member, campus-community partnership, volunteer office, or another collegiate program that yields civic outcomes.
- The Excellence in Service Student Group Award: Acknowledges student groups. Students’ applications are reviewed for students’ commitment and involvement in service projects that extend beyond any co-curricular requirements or service-learning courses.
