Social Justice Awareness Week – The Refugee Experience

Join us for an evening exploring refugee issues and the refugee experience through presentations by anthropology professor Chelsea Strayer and The Refugee Project (RYP) on Wednesday, April 24 at 6:30pm in the University Union Rooms 314-316. School supplies and nonperishable snacks will be collected as donations to the Refugee Project.  Free food and light refreshments will be provided!

Participants are asked to bring donations to benefit the Refugee Youth Project. Items needed include:

Healthy Snacks:

  • Non-perishable dry snacks (fruit snacks, granola bars, pretzels, etc.)
  • Juice boxes
  • Water bottles
  • Napkins, paper plates, plastic cups

School supplies:

  • Backpacks
  • Binders
  • Pencils
  • Erasers
  • Paper (construction paper, rolls of paper for art projects, blank white paper)
  • Rulers
  • Calculators
  • Folders

Miscellaneous items:

  • Uniforms (White collared shirts and navy pants –Pre K- 5th grade) **
  • Large plastic bins/tubs**
  • Games for Pre K-12th grade (Educational and non-educational ) **
  • Sports equipment (basketballs, jump ropes, soccer balls, dodge balls, etc.) **
