Although the TUPD had to send a text alert warning about possible gunfire on campus on April 12 , the threat was very quickly identified as false. However, Towson faculty, staff and students need to remember that the moment an alert of this nature goes out, they should shelter in place; moments later, the campus was told that they could resume normal activities. Our Shelter in Place exercises have been good training for all who have participated in them. If you need to refresh your understanding or learn them in the first place, see the TU Emergency Resource Guide (a red and white cardboard copy is in every office, classroom and residence hall on campus) or go online to the University Police website. The first page of the site features a video titled ”TU Emergency Preparedness Training. “ It will be among the best eight minutes you have ever spent learning how to protect yourself. On the same first-page of the site, you can also sign up for text alerts if you have not done this already.
