Join Us for Social Justice Awareness Week

Come join us for Social Justice Awareness Week on April 22 – 29 as we increase awareness and promote equity and inclusion with the following events:

Everyone In Between
Monday, April 22

Ever feel like society doesn’t represent you? Ever feel overlooked or judged because of your identity? Then come explore issues of race, sexual orientation and gender. Get a free wristband and a chance to win a raffle prize.

Recognizing Gender Roles
Tuesday, April 23
7:30 – 9 p.m.
Susquehanna Terrace
Come take part in our Role Reversal Relay as we explore the stereotypes surrounding gender roles.

The Refugee Experience
Wednesday, April 24
6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
University Union Rooms 314-316
Join us as we explore the refugee experience through presentations by Professor Chelsea Strayer and The Refugee Project (RYP).  We will be collecting school supplies and nonperishable snacks as donations for RYP.

Thursday, April 25

Discuss the cycle of mass incarcerations in American while playing historical montage Jeopardy.

Play It Out
Friday, April 26
3 – 4 p.m.
Loch Raven Room
Learn how to bring about social awareness through skits.  In three interactive scenarios, we will discuss dealing with stereotypes, the complexities of sexual orientation, and the issues people from other countries deal with when adapting to the dominant culture.

11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Tell us what your identity means to you by sharing your story.  Join us in this safe and supportive environment where you can share your story publicly or anonymously. Participants will be given a free wristband for participating.

Free refreshments will be served at all events.  All are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
