SOFTWARE TIP OF THE WEEK

Word 2010            Using Word Count

The Word Count feature counts all the words in your document. This is useful if you have a writing assignment that is limited to a number of words, such as a 1000-word paper.

  1. Click the Review tab on the Ribbon and click the Word Count button in the Proofing group.
  2. The Word Count dialog box appears, displaying document information. This includes the number of words, pages, characters, paragraphs and lines.
  3. Click Close to return to your document.
Notes: By default, the number of words in a document appears in the status bar.
  4. To specify word count to certain areas of the document, select the text you want to include in the count. The number of selected words appears in the status bar. Press the <Ctrl> key to select nonadjacent text.
