Depression Outreach Alliance College Program (DORA)

Research shows that of the college students who need help with depression or with suicidal ideation, only 11 percent tell a counselor while 67 percent will tell a peer. Peer support is therefore essential in the provision of effective mental health and suicide prevention programs. The Counseling Center will present the DORA College Program, which will educate Towson University students, faculty and staff about symptoms of depression and anxiety. In addition, the presentation will show how to help someone struggling with anxiety and depression, as well as the positive outcomes of seeking help. Finally, the presentation will identify an individual’s risks for developing a mental illness and identify responsible, health conscious, attitudes towards mental health. Join us in expanding the peer support on Towson University’s campus. Call the Counseling Center at (410) 704-2512 with any question or visit us online.
