Recyclemania Week 2 Results

Towson recycled 26,420 pounds, or 14 percent of its waste during the week of February 10-16. This puts us in 191 place this week in the national competition. Newell Hall recycled the most per student out of the residence halls. Last week’s trash number was much higher than from the week before because of Towson’s irregular hauling schedule. Haulers do not pick up a load until it is full; therefore some weeks show more trash than other weeks.  It saves us $125 on hauling charges each time.

Here are some things you can do to improve recycling:

  1. Share the contest results with your friends. Encourage them to participate. The winning residence hall gets a cash prize! If you have Facebook go on our site at https://www.facebook.com/TowsonGoesGreen
  2. Put trash and recycling bins next to each other when you see them separated.
  3. When you eat or drink with your friends, remind them to recycle their cups and containers.
