The ERG is updated according to the most advanced guidelines that could be gathered from the world of emergency resource training. It is designed in a way that makes it easy to locate the information needed: sheltering in place, weather emergencies, or the threat of an active shooter. It is indeed what we believe to be a ready resource, in that it is labeled and tabulated in such a way that any challenge it addresses is immediately identifiable on the surface and easily paged.
The part we would like departments to play in distribution involves several steps to make this a clean transition from old to new. Please recycle the 5,000 now outdated Emergency Resource Guides, which are gold and white. The new ones are red and white. They will be recognizable as new, but reassuring in that they are designed and accessible in exactly the same way as the old edition.
Please make sure that each staff member receives the new ERG. All copies will be marked with individual names in appropriate departments. If you need additional copies, contact Environmental Health and Safety at x4-2949.
If you familiarize yourself with the new ERG, you will find it a good ally in the case of an emergency.
