Each spring, 20 students from colleges and universities throughout Maryland are selected to participate in the Governor’s Summer Internship Program. This summer the internship program will run from June 7 through August 13, 2004. The internship offers opportunities to work with Maryland State Government and provides a $2,500.00 stipend.
Towson University will nominate up to five students to participate in the program. If selected, the Governor’s Summer interns will:
– Work with senior-level public administrators, in various state agencies or in the Governor’s Office on projects that correspond to students’ academic interests and long-term career goals.
– Develop and present policy papers that address some of Maryland’s most pressing social and economic problems.
– Attend site visits and seminars designed to introduce interns to the specific challenges and rewards of public administration.
To qualify, students must be entering their junior or senior year in the fall 2004 semester with a GPA of 3.00 or higher. All majors are encouraged to apply.
To apply, eligible students should obtain a program application from Glenda Henkel in The Career Center, ES 332 (704-4841) or David McDonald in the Office of the Provost, AD 311 (704-4488).
