Message from President Robert L. Caret

Towson University values diversity and strives to foster a climate that is grounded in respect and inclusion and enriches the educational experience of students, not diminish it. I want to reemphasize the key role that respect and civility play on our campus. Unfortunately, acts of racial and homophobic behavior have recently occurred on campus. Towson University denounces these types of behaviors and takes them very seriously. We will take appropriate action against individuals or groups involved in such behaviors.
As members of the Towson community, you have pledged to take responsibility for yourself and the choices you make, work hard to achieve your academic goals, and engage in your community to make a difference. Remember to pause to celebrate your accomplishments but also celebrate the accomplishments of others. Each of us can help to foster a welcoming climate for all members of our campus community.
Join me and others on campus in refusing to accept intolerant behavior. You may go to the website {http://www.towson.edu/odeo/hate_bias} to report hate/bias incidents.
